Our Elective Projects
At Medical Electives Abroad our aim is to offer the best destinations to medical students. We were founded by a doctor and therefore know first hand what makes a success elective. We aim to take away the stress involved in organising your elective placement, taking care of your hospital placement, your accommodation, making sure someone is there to meet you at the airport, having staff available 24/7, and even recommending the best trips and place to visit while you're away.
Below we have our two elective projects; MEA Sri Lanka and MEA Caribbean. Both offer you a unique and exciting elective, with some amazing trips like swimming with turtles, safaris, surfing weekends, whale watching and more. Each project has a dedicated website, so follow the links below to find out more.
We offer electives to the beautiful island of St Vincent and the Grenadines. This picturesque chain of islands featured heavily in the Pirates of the Caribbean films due to there unspoilt beauty. The country is made up of 32 islands, many of which are uninhabited. All offer stunning sandy beaches and turquoise blue water.
We work with a few hospitals, but on the whole medical care is very centralised and many are unable to seek advice. We aim to use our students skills to run health fairs and training courses. This gives you the chance to make a real difference while on your elective.
St Vincent has a range of trips and activities, from climbing an active volcano to discovering hidden waterfalls and swimming with turtles.
MEA Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka has become one of the most popular destinations for students to travel to. It is no wonder when you consider all of the amazing history, landscapes, culture and activities you will be exposed to.
We work with a small organisation who work with hospitals all over the country. You will have the chance to be exposed to a range of specialities and new situations. You can also add additional projects on to your elective such as volunteering in an orphanage or working with turtles.
In your free time there is plenty to see and do in Sri Lanka. Stunning temples, whale watching, mountain hikes, elephant safaris and weekends learning to surf. It is easy to see why Sri Lanka is one of the top elective destinations.
